“When I came here as a freshman in 2010, I never knew the family I would gain from Saint Vincent.  Through roommates and friends, and all the organizations I belong to, I found the family that I wanted to call my own. When receiving my undergraduate degree in 2014, I was nervous to lose everything that I knew.  I was fortunate enough to receive the graduate coordinator position for Campus Life which let me pass on my traditions and family atmosphere.  Now, two years later, I am faced with the same dilemma, leaving my family at Saint Vincent. While I look forward to new and exciting adventures, I will never forget the bonds and supports that I have made here. When asked what the hardest part will be when leaving, I can only look back and think of the family I found through professors, advisers and students. I know that they are only a call away, but leaving the place I call home and the people I call family is the hardest part.”

“With graduation just days away, I can’t believe how fast my time at SVC has gone. My biggest regret is not getting the chance to meet all of the great people here at SVC on a deeper level. I was always busy doing meaningful things, studying and working, and I don’t regret any of that, but I would enjoy the opportunity to truly meet and talk to everyone here. If I could, I would like to sit down with each person one-on-one, share a meal with them and thank them for everything they did, even if in a small way, to help me throughout college. Saint Vincent College is a special community and I’m glad to have had the opportunity to experience great memories here.”

“Last year my buddies and I had an apartment in Rooney facing the walkway to the Carey Center. We created this game and the concept of it was to embarrass each other in front of fellow classmates. Whenever we would see a friend walking on the path back from class, we would scream ridiculous stuff out of our window in an effort to embarrass them. I'll never forget one day I was walking back from class minding my business, until I heard my roommate Brendan shout out ‘Hey Tim, how’s that rash?!’ My face instantly got beet red as I turned around and saw a bunch of students smiling walking behind me on the path. I didn't think I could get more embarrassed ... but I did as he relentlessly kept screaming, ‘Did you pick up that cream yet? I'm sure it will work, man!’ That may have been the longest walk back to Rooney of my life, but every time I think about it, I can’t help but smile. As strange as it sounds, those are the moments I will miss the most.”

“I’ve had the chance to be both a little sister and a big sister for two years each while being up here. Plus, it’s cool to have a brother in the monastery. So I guess that ‘being an O’Reilly’ means to me that I’m never alone, and that’s fundamentally what a family is all about.”

“I think the whole point [of college] is to be the best version of yourself that you can be, and that can’t be defined by anybody but yourself. I think that’s why a lot of times people feel stuck; too many people are telling them the ‘right’ way to live. Once you stop letting those people have such an influence, you can start to grow and figure out who you need to be and how you can get there. I still don’t know where I’m going, but I know that I’m on my way.”

“It was a really boring Friday night and we are sitting there, actually I am sitting there. There’s no we involved because I have no friends and I am bored out of my mind. So l look in my closet and I take the double-stuffed Oreos my mom bought me and I look at them and think, all right, let’s chow down on a few of these bad boys. So I grab an Oreo and I’m like - I love Oreos let’s make a quadruple-stuffed Oreo and I’m like wow this looks good, let's keep going and I took some more. I got to half a box of Oreos; I then have sixteen double-stuffed Oreos. And then I was like all right go big or go home. I take the rest of the box of Oreos and made one big thirty-two-stuffed Oreo. I went around and I showed everyone it, I put it on my Snapchat story and I made sure everyone knew what was happening. I then ate it, and to be honest it was probably the most disgusting thing I’ve ever had in my life.”

"To me, Saint Vincent offers proximity. Even though I grew up in the outskirts of Latrobe I chose to not go far from home. Family is extremely important to me and coming to Saint Vincent meant that I could be close to the ones I love. In addition, Saint Vincent provides its students with a quality Benedictine education while serving the community of Latrobe. Since I was a little girl I've been a parishioner of Saint Vincent Basilica Parish, so being able to come to college here is just an extra bonus and truly Saint Vincent is a second home to me. It always has been and always will be."
