“Picking a college out of a hat isn’t necessarily ideal. I was really indecisive about where I wanted to go for the next four years. During high school, I always thought I would attend the usual, Pitt or Penn State. I ended up falling in love with another school, but when the tuition was too expensive, I had to quickly pick another school. Eventually, I decided to pick out of a hat. I pulled SVC, but didn’t want to go there, so I threw it back in. I then reshuffled and picked SVC again. I’m fortunate that God put me here at Saint Vincent. The opportunities I have been exposed to have been so fulfilling and worthwhile. I wouldn’t trade my years here for anything!”

“I have three passions in life; spikeball, Walt Disney World and making people smile! What I love about Saint Vincent is that it has helped me grow these passions on a day-to-day basis. I never heard of spikeball until I came here; I am now the club president and host tournaments every semester! My dream job is to work for Walt Disney World on their PR team. SVC has set me on the right path to make my dream a reality. I love putting a smile on every person’s face that I talk to. It makes me feel better about myself when I can make others smile. Thanks SVC for making it easy for me!”

”What are your possibilities once you become part of the Saint Vincent College family? I began my SVC career 12 years ago part-time in the Welcome Booth on the 3-11 p.m. shift, then I became full-time in the Facilities Management Office. From there I went to the Registrar’s office as a secretary and finally for the last five years, I have been the administrative assistant to the dean of the Herbert W. Boyer School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computing. I love the community of Saint Vincent College; being that I have worked in several different areas, I have made a lot of friendships throughout the college. My daughters have grown up coming to SVC events and all three started their college education at SVC their senior year of high school. I like to say: You can go anywhere from Saint Vincent College.”

"Coming to Saint Vincent, I did not know what to expect of the people here. I am from Germantown, Maryland (about 45-50 minutes away from D.C.), and the culture/people are so different back home compared to SVC. People actually open doors for you, say "Hi," and are just generally decent human beings. I have met some really awesome people, and some who have been not so awesome. The communication department is so nice. I am so glad I decided to major in Comm. because the staff is really amazing and is willing to work with you on everything. Being here at Saint Vincent has been pretty solid so far, and I cannot wait to see where the rest of my college career takes me."

"Being that I am a commuter, I spend a great amount of time walking around Saint Vincent’s beautiful campus. With each season, new beauties emerge. Throughout the fall season, I admire the changing of the trees’ leaves as I move from the different buildings. In the winter, I can’t help but marvel at the glistening snow surrounding the “Saint Vincent” shrubs. As spring emerges, the campus comes back to life; all of us students enjoy the warm commute between classes. Finally, as summer arrives, the green leaves and hot air give me the motivation to power through the last few days of class. The beauty of Saint Vincent’s campus is incomparable."

"It's difficult for me to choose my favorite memory as a Bearcat thus far. A plethora of new beginnings and opportunities have been presented to us freshmen, since arriving on campus this fall. There's been a lot of change in the past months, but I'm glad to have experienced this first year of transition with close friends. I've met some remarkable human beings and made forever memories in just a few short months. I also can't forget the love and support from my family; having them by my side through this transition means the world to me."

"To me, Saint Vincent offers proximity. Even though I grew up in the outskirts of Latrobe I chose to not go far from home. Family is extremely important to me and coming to Saint Vincent meant that I could be close to the ones I love. In addition, Saint Vincent provides its students with a quality Benedictine education while serving the community of Latrobe. Since I was a little girl I've been a parishioner of Saint Vincent Basilica Parish, so being able to come to college here is just an extra bonus and truly Saint Vincent is a second home to me. It always has been and always will be."

“I believe that the richest places in the world are graveyards. Rich with dreams and ideas, untapped talents, unsaid thoughts, unfinished decisions and missed opportunities. I came to college to achieve an education but to also tap my unknown talents, learn to make strong decisions, seize opportunities and grow as a person along the way. To truly be rich is to live the life your parents dreamed for you to have, to live a life that you can look back on one day and exhale your last breath knowing you have truly done the impossible. To leave no stone unturned, to take on fears and overcome obstacles, and to love and be loved. To be truly happy, a rich life is life well lived, and I believe here in college my fellow compatriots and I have only just begun this journey…”
