"Coming to Saint Vincent, I did not know what to expect of the people here. I am from Germantown, Maryland (about 45-50 minutes away from D.C.), and the culture/people are so different back home compared to SVC. People actually open doors for you, say "Hi," and are just generally decent human beings. I have met some really awesome people, and some who have been not so awesome. The communication department is so nice. I am so glad I decided to major in Comm. because the staff is really amazing and is willing to work with you on everything. Being here at Saint Vincent has been pretty solid so far, and I cannot wait to see where the rest of my college career takes me."

“Saint Vincent was my first choice college when I made my first list of places to apply to. This campus feels like home to me - warm and welcoming no matter who you are or where you’re from. If you need help, all you have to do is ask, and if the person you asked doesn’t know the answer, it’s pretty likely that someone he or she knows will be able to answer.

“Being the daughter of two alumni of Saint Vincent College, I immediately felt at home during my first few weeks as a freshman. The amount of activities and ways to get involved made it very easy to feel a part of the SVC community. Everyone welcomed you with open arms and made you feel like a Bearcat from the start, which made the transition much easier. The abundance of welcomes and smiles throughout the first few days made me feel that I have always been here. I couldn’t imagine calling any other place home for the next few years.”

“There were a lot of reasons I picked Saint Vincent to be the school for me. But the deciding factor was the day I went on my tour. I met with Dr. Martincic (Computer Information Science department chairperson) and it happened to be Halloween. She had an Android costume on that she had made. This showed me that this school had a personality and I would be happy here.”-Brittany McMillan

“Saint Vincent College is much more than just a place to further my education; it is my second home. When I was six months old, I attended a day care held on campus. During middle school and high school, I volunteered at the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve, Campus Ministry and the Admission Office. Also, during high school, I was a pre-college student at Saint Vincent. I was enrolled in core classes as a junior and senior in high school. You can say I grew up with Saint Vincent; it is in my blood. As a result, it was a natural choice to attend Saint Vincent upon graduation from high school. Saint Vincent is truly an institution I love.”

“Within every person there is an unfathomable interior castle, a heart that longs for love, a search for ultimate fulfillment. The question is: How will you fill your castle? How will you fulfill the longings of your heart? Where will the search bring you? Hopefully, the answer to all of these questions is Christ and his infinite love for you. You’re in my prayers.”

“When I came here as a freshman in 2010, I never knew the family I would gain from Saint Vincent. Through roommates and friends, and all the organizations I belong to, I found the family that I wanted to call my own. When receiving my undergraduate degree in 2014, I was nervous to lose everything that I knew. I was fortunate enough to receive the graduate coordinator position for Campus Life which let me pass on my traditions and family atmosphere. Now, two years later, I am faced with the same dilemma, leaving my family at Saint Vincent. While I look forward to new and exciting adventures, I will never forget the bonds and supports that I have made here. When asked what the hardest part will be when leaving, I can only look back and think of the family I found through professors, advisers and students. I know that they are only a call away, but leaving the place I call home and the people I call family is the hardest part.”

“With graduation just days away, I can’t believe how fast my time at SVC has gone. My biggest regret is not getting the chance to meet all of the great people here at SVC on a deeper level. I was always busy doing meaningful things, studying and working, and I don’t regret any of that, but I would enjoy the opportunity to truly meet and talk to everyone here. If I could, I would like to sit down with each person one-on-one, share a meal with them and thank them for everything they did, even if in a small way, to help me throughout college. Saint Vincent College is a special community and I’m glad to have had the opportunity to experience great memories here.”

“I love collecting toys of all kinds, and Star Wars toys are some of my favorite ones. I remember getting my first Star Wars figure back in 1977, but I expanded beyond that! My favorite pieces are Luke’s X-Wing and Darth Vader’s Tie Fighter, and those are a great pair to have together because you could run around having them battle. So that's my favorite part of Star Wars Day. May the 4th Be With You!”

“Last year my buddies and I had an apartment in Rooney facing the walkway to the Carey Center. We created this game and the concept of it was to embarrass each other in front of fellow classmates. Whenever we would see a friend walking on the path back from class, we would scream ridiculous stuff out of our window in an effort to embarrass them. I'll never forget one day I was walking back from class minding my business, until I heard my roommate Brendan shout out ‘Hey Tim, how’s that rash?!’ My face instantly got beet red as I turned around and saw a bunch of students smiling walking behind me on the path. I didn't think I could get more embarrassed ... but I did as he relentlessly kept screaming, ‘Did you pick up that cream yet? I'm sure it will work, man!’ That may have been the longest walk back to Rooney of my life, but every time I think about it, I can’t help but smile. As strange as it sounds, those are the moments I will miss the most.”
