“For as long as I can remember, music has always been one of the biggest aspects of my life. I started singing when I was 8 years old, and I just never stopped. I pursued music throughout middle and high school through multiple bands and theatre groups. It was very important that I pursued these same groups when I began my journey here at SVC. I had no idea within the first two weeks of my freshman year of college that I would meet a group such as The Company. A group full of creative, wonderful, talented and hilarious people. I found a place where I could be myself without fear of judgment. A place where I can become someone I’m not while still being myself. I never would have pictured myself adding a vocal performance minor at the beginning of my second semester. I have The Company, as well as the whole Saint Vincent music program, for helping me find my voice.”

"As I lay in bed those many nights and anticipated what Saint Vincent would have in store for me, I don’t think I would have ever imagined that I would find myself sitting in the back of a lecture hall every single Sunday night for seven semesters. I had been on the student council in high school, so the idea of SGA appealed to me. However, I did not realize the significant impact it would have on my college experience. SGA has given me something more than I could have ever imagined. This organization taught me how to voice my opinion confidently. It taught me how to make changes. It taught me how to be a strong leader. And it taught me how wonderful this school truly is."

"We met at the start of second semester freshman year and lived in Pod 4F together. Payton transferred to SVC from another university and it was best friends at first sight. Gianna had instantly called her friends and told them to come meet us. From that day, our friendship grew into something we will cherish for a lifetime. During the fall of 2018, we will be studying abroad in various countries in Europe, as well as pursuing the same major. We are grateful for Saint Vincent and all the memories that have come along with our time here!"

“While in residence with the Vincentians in Paris, doing research for my dissertation in European History, I was introduced to Père Claude Lautissier, C.M., the archivist. (With European archivists, the more you get to know them, the more items they will trust you with.) It took months of conversations and frequent visits to the Archives at the motherhouse before one day, a new room was unlocked. The “Crown Jewels,” if you will. These were the letters of Vincent de Paul in his own handwriting. The first time Fr. Lautissier let me see the letters, he also brought out a long, thin piece of paper that was pressed between two panes of clear glass to preserve it. He said to me, “This, dear Brian, is what you have been looking for.” It was the treatise of Vincent de Paul against the Jansenists, simply titled, “Sur la Grâce,” or “On Grace.” It was exactly what I had been searching for the whole time in Paris. Père Lautissier handed it to me and I wept. Here was, a very human touch of Vincent de Paul. Handwritten on scraps of paper, a beautiful treatise against a heresy that was destroying French religion and society in the 17th century.“

"I always had an idea of getting my college education abroad. Somehow, I ended up in SVC all the way from Turkey. That could be nothing else but destiny. I gained real friends, which are the reason that I am at SVC. Going to college abroad taught me a lot of things, but the most beautiful thing I learned is to be grateful all the time. Bad things happen in our life and it happens for a reason. We learn from those bad memories. My small advice to SVC students is that they should not get upset about small things. They have their family, friends and enough money to go to college here."

"I never wanted to go to a small school; I had always pictured myself at a big school in the city. I had decided pretty early on that I wanted to go to Pitt, but then the day I was about to submit my deposit, something made me hold off and take a second look at Saint Vincent. I couldn't be happier that I did.
Two things that really stick out for me are the class sizes that allow you to interact with your professors and just the overall family feeling that the entire community has. There's just so many great people here. By coming to Saint Vincent, I know that I've made the right choice and have made friends that will last a lifetime."
