“For as long as I can remember, music has always been one of the biggest aspects of my life. I started singing when I was 8 years old, and I just never stopped. I pursued music throughout middle and high school through multiple bands and theatre groups. It was very important that I pursued these same groups when I began my journey here at SVC. I had no idea within the first two weeks of my freshman year of college that I would meet a group such as The Company. A group full of creative, wonderful, talented and hilarious people. I found a place where I could be myself without fear of judgment. A place where I can become someone I’m not while still being myself. I never would have pictured myself adding a vocal performance minor at the beginning of my second semester. I have The Company, as well as the whole Saint Vincent music program, for helping me find my voice.”

"As I lay in bed those many nights and anticipated what Saint Vincent would have in store for me, I don’t think I would have ever imagined that I would find myself sitting in the back of a lecture hall every single Sunday night for seven semesters. I had been on the student council in high school, so the idea of SGA appealed to me. However, I did not realize the significant impact it would have on my college experience. SGA has given me something more than I could have ever imagined. This organization taught me how to voice my opinion confidently. It taught me how to make changes. It taught me how to be a strong leader. And it taught me how wonderful this school truly is."

Gianna Detore and Payton Knupp

"We met at the start of second semester freshman year and lived in Pod 4F together. Payton transferred to SVC from another university and it was best friends at first sight. Gianna had instantly called her friends and told them to come meet us. From that day, our friendship grew into something we will cherish for a lifetime. During the fall of 2018, we will be studying abroad in various countries in Europe, as well as pursuing the same major. We are grateful for Saint Vincent and all the memories that have come along with our time here!"

"Until I started playing rugby, I never legitimately realized I could do anything if I put my mind to it. I was hesitant to join the team, simply because I had a difficult time convincing myself that I was capable of partaking in such a physically and mentally demanding sport. Eventually, I mustered up enough courage to go to a practice, and ever since then, I never looked back. I have not only learned the skills that it takes to be a successful player, but the sport has supplied me with empowerment, confidence and discipline. My team is the most powerful group of girls I know, and I know I have found lifelong friends in them all. I can confidently say I am the happiest I've ever been, and I know my teammates, coaches and the sport itself has helped me achieve that, along with all of the other wonderful people I've met here.”
